Privacy Policy

What Bible Rats collects, why, and the plain fact that we don't sell it, advertise with it, or track you around the web with it.

Effective September 10, 2026

No ads

No ad network, no ad identifiers, nothing sold to anyone.

No analytics SDKs

No third-party trackers watching how you use the app.

You can delete everything

One tap in Settings, gone immediately.

01What we collect

Only what the app needs to run the features you use:

CategoryWhat it is
AccountUsername, display name, avatar photo, timezone, and either your email (if you sign in by email code) or the name/email Apple or Google shares when you sign in with them.
Your studyThe passage you studied, what stood out to you, an optional private reflection, study minutes, and activity type — for every check-in you post.
Groups & socialWhich groups you've joined, your invite codes, messages you send in group chat, and reactions or comments you leave.
DeviceA push-notification token and device platform (iOS/Android), only if you allow notifications.

We don't collect your location, your contacts, or any advertising identifier, and we don't run any analytics or crash-tracking SDK that watches your behavior.

02How we use it

To run the app: computing your streak, showing your journal, matching group check-ins to the friends who should see them, sending the reminders you've turned on, and letting you chat in your groups. Nothing here is used for advertising, and none of it is sold.

03How your content is shared

Your journal is private by default. When you share a check-in to a group, you choose how much: a full share shows the passage, your takeaway, and study time; a summary share only tells the group you completed a study today. Either way, your private reflection never leaves your own journal unless you explicitly write it into a share you mark as full. This is enforced by the database itself, not just the screen you're looking at — group members' apps can never query more than the level you chose.

04Who processes it for us

We keep the list short, and each one only sees what it needs to do its job:

05Keeping & deleting your data

We keep your data as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account — it takes effect immediately and permanently removes your profile, journal, check-ins, messages, and group memberships. If you were the sole remaining member of a group, that group is archived rather than left ownerless; otherwise ownership passes to another member automatically. There's no recovery window, so we mean it when we say "permanent."

06Children

Bible Rats isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

07Security

Your data is protected by row-level security at the database layer — every table checks who's asking before returning a row, not just the app's UI. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we design for the assumption that it has to hold up on its own, not because the interface asked nicely.

08Where data lives

Bible Rats' infrastructure runs on servers located in the United States. If you're using the app from elsewhere, your data is processed and stored there.

09Your choices

You can review and edit your profile, change what you share by default, turn any notification on or off, and export nothing you didn't put there yourself — because everything in your journal is already something you wrote. Deleting your account (see above) is the most complete option, and it's always one tap away.

10Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect, not just update this page quietly.
