01Getting help

Email joaop.mateus@icloud.com with what happened and what you expected instead. If something looks wrong on a specific screen, a screenshot saves us both a round trip.

If you're reporting something another person posted, use the in-app report described below rather than email — it reaches me with the context attached, and the author is never told who reported.

02Signing in

You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with a code sent to your email. The code arrives within a minute; if it doesn't, check the spam folder before requesting another one, because each new request invalidates the previous code.

Signing in with the same method always returns you to the same account. Using a different method with the same address creates a separate account, so pick one and stick with it.

03Check-ins and streaks

A check-in records what you studied and one thing that stood out. It takes about ten seconds and that's deliberate — the app is built so showing up is easy enough that you keep doing it.

QuestionAnswer
What counts toward a streak? One check-in per day. A second one the same day is welcome, but it doesn't add to the streak.
Which day does a check-in belong to?The day in your own timezone, decided on the server — so travelling doesn't quietly break a streak.
I missed a day.The current streak restarts, but your longest streak and every entry you've written stay exactly where they are.
Can I edit or delete one?Yes. Open it from your journal. Deleting it removes it from every group you shared it to.

04Groups and invite codes

A group is a closed circle you join with a five-character invite code. There is no public directory and no discovery — if you didn't get a code, you can't get in.

Find your group's code under Details inside the group; tap it to copy, or use Invite friends to share it. Anyone holding the code can join, so treat it like a door key and ask an admin to regenerate it if it spreads further than you meant.

05Who sees what you write

Nothing you write is public. Each check-in is shared per group, at a level you choose:

LevelWhat the group sees
FullThe passage and what stood out to you.
Summary onlyThat you studied, and your streak — not what you wrote.
Journal onlyNothing. The entry stays yours alone.

The longer private reflection is never shared with anyone, at any level. These limits are enforced on the server, not merely hidden in the interface — a group member's app is never sent content they aren't entitled to see.

06Reporting and blocking

To report a check-in, comment or message someone else posted, press and hold it, choose Report, and pick a reason. Reports are reviewed and acted on, and the person you reported is never told who reported them.

To block someone, use the same menu and choose Block. Blocking works both ways: you stop seeing their check-ins, comments and messages, and they stop seeing yours. Your group's progress count still includes them, so blocking one person never distorts everyone else's numbers. Undo it any time in Settings → Blocked accounts.

The app also filters a list of offensive terms from messages, comments and check-ins before they are ever posted.

07Notifications

Under Settings → Notifications you choose whether to get a streak reminder and at what time, whether to hear when a friend checks in, and whether group chat notifies you. Each group also has its own switch under its Details tab.

If nothing arrives at all, check that notifications are still allowed for Bible Rats in the iPhone's own Settings app — a denial there overrides anything chosen inside the app.

08Deleting your account

Open Settings → Delete account and confirm twice. Your profile, check-ins, reflections, comments, reactions and messages are deleted immediately, and you're signed out.

If you own a group, ownership passes to the longest-standing admin so the group survives without you; if there's no one left, the group is archived with you. Deletion is permanent — there is no undo, and I can't restore it afterwards, so export anything you want to keep beforehand.
